Bantam AA Crushers split weekend games

Pictou County Bantam AA Crushers took on South Shore Saturday, November 11 at the Pictou County Wellness Center for their first of two home games this weekend.  The teams played an even, tight checking opening period until Myles Farnsworth opened the scoring for the Crushers with 2:34 to go in the first on a rebound from Adam Farrell and Ryan Denny.  In the second period Covey Cameron scored a power play goal from the point to put the Crushers up by two.  Assisted by Denny and Chris Avery.  The Crushers penalty killers went to work killing a 5 on 3 at the end of the period only to have the puck squeeze pass Jacob Fraser with .21 to go in the second.  Crushers went to intermission up 2-1.  South Shore struck early in the third tying the game and then a couple minutes later added another putting the Crushers down 3-2.  The Bantam AA never gave up and continued pressing the net.  Cam MacKinnon  tied the game on a pass from Dylan Kontuk.  Two minutes later MacKinnon sent Ross Martin on a rush from centre ice for the go ahead goal.  Tanner Steele setup Farnsworth for the one timer with a cross ice pass for the insurance marker.  Also assisted by Jacoby Beadle.  Martin added a late one from Avery and Cameron for the 6-3 victory.
Sunday morning the Bantam AA Crushers took on a strong Yarmouth team who out played them but managed to keep the score at nil until part way through the second. The Crushers ran into penalty troubles and Yarmouth capitalized.  Xander Vohs turned away 37 of the 40 shots, giving his team the opportunity to fight back but the Crushers could not solve Yarmouth's goalie leaving the game 3-0.
Next weekend the Bantam AA will be at home again with an exhibition game Saturday against Strait Richmond and Sunday Antigonish will visit the Wellness Center for a league game.
