    Pictou County Bantam AA Crushers started their 2017/18 season on the road last weekend against Western Valley on Saturday Oct 14.  The game started off with a bang as the Crushers jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Ross Martin and Cam MacKinnon. Western Valley made it 3-2 only to have Dylan Kontuk tie the game going into the first intermission. The Crushers dominated the play but could not get the go ahead goal .Western Valley squeaked a late one by Jacob Fraser to hand the Bantam AA Crushers a 4 3 loss.  

   

     After the game the Pictou County Bantam AA Crushers continued onto Yarmouth to prepare for Sunday's game.  Kontuk opened the scoring with assists to Adam Fraser and Myles Farnsworth.  The Crushers end the first with scoring tied a 1.  The Crusher's took charge in the second scoring three straight, Martin from Ryan Denny and Adam Farrell.  Jack Noftall on an unassisted blast from the point. Farrell from Noftall and Farnsworth.  Despite running into penalty trouble in the third the team played hard and Xander Vohs stood strong between the pipes to give the Bantam AA Crushers a 4 3 win .

 

    Pictou County Bantam AA Crushers home opener was Saturday Oct. 21 against Western Valley.  The visiting team scored first near the end of the opening period.  The second period was filled with fast paced back and forth action.  The Crushers battled hard in the corners and pressed their way to the net where Chris Avery knocked one in at 7:50 of the third period.  Western Valley added one at 44.8 sec. but the Bantam AA Crushers were not giving up.  With seconds winding down Farrell passed the puck up to Martin who shot it passed the goalie to tie the game at 2 with 18 seconds to go.  Fraser and Vohs shared the net minding with only one game this weekend.  

 

    Bantam AA Crushers play in the Nova Scotia Mainland Hockey league which consists of eight teams.  Next weekend the team will travel to South Shore on Saturday and Antigonish on Sunday.
