Selects 1-2 in Weekend Action
2014-11-23In the first game the Selects hosted the Cape Breton West Islanders at the Wellness Centre. The Selects strike first with a goal from Long assisted by Wilson and Vint. The Islanders would strike before the end of the first to tie the game. Long would score again in the second assisted by Crawford and L. Coolen and the Selects took 2-1 lead into the 3rd period. The Islanders would go on to score two unanswered goals in the third frame and win the game by a score of 3-2.
In the second game of a double header the Selects hosted the Islanders at Trenton arena. The Selects didn't match their effort earlier in the day and the Islanders came out strong and ultimately won the game by a score of 4-0.
In Sunday's action the Selects visited the Antigonish Bulldogs. The Bulldogs strike first in the game and carried a 1-0 lead into the second period. The Selects would go on to score four unanswered goals and win the game by a score of 4-1. Goals were from Foley, Long, L. Coolen and Petipas. Assists were earned by Crawford (2), Wilson, Hayman and Long.
The Selects are off to Summerside, PEI next weekend to compete in the Source For Sports PeeWee A Female Hockey Tournament.
