The Wonder Auto Bantam AA Crushers played a pair of games this past weekend vs the Cumberland Ramblers. Game 1 went at the Wellness Centre on Saturday, with the Crushers coming out on top with a score of 4-3. Nick Dykstra had a strong game, scoring the game winner with 3 seconds remaining. Scoring for the Crushers were Zack Houston, Kyle Walsh, Michael MacGillivary and Dykstra. Assists going to Sam McDow, Dykstra, Walsh, Alex MacKinnon, Spencer Creed and Matt Martin. Nick Laffin was solid in goal, turning away 28 shots for the win.
On Sunday, the Crushers travelled to Amherst to play Game 2, where in a hard fought battle, fell 2-1 to the Ramblers. The Crushers got into penalty trouble early in the game, which led to Cumberland scoring on the power play. The Crushers answered right back with a blast from Kyle Walsh, assisted by Michael MacGillivary and Matt Martin. The game was very close until the third period, where many suspicious calls started going against the Crushers, causing them to play most of the third period short handed. Cumberland were able to score again late in the third on the power play. Ryan Royles made many acrobatic saves, turning away 29 shots in the loss. The Crushers see action again next weekend in Kingston, where they play 2 games away vs Western Valley.
